Fudgy Chocolate Oats
Quick, easy and yummy is my mantra.
Breakfast is something I like to be quick, like really quick. This recipe should take you approximately 5 mins and it so so chocolaty that you'll you think are eating dessert.
You can use quick oats like quaker that cooks really quickly. If you want to use rolled oats the cooking time and water needs to be adjusted. For steel cut oats, i recommend you soak it overnight before cooking. I sometimes use cooked millets for my son.
I personally find the sweetness from the banana sufficient, if you want it sweeter just add in some jaggery or top with a little honey. Ideally for any addition you make to the recipe, you should account for those additional calories.

With the morning madness breakfast needs to be quick. It also needs to satiate you and stop you from junking while providing adequate nourishment. I love my oats but nothing like this chocolate fudge oats.
Author: Simrun ChopraIngredients
- 1/4 cup quick oats
- 1 large ripe banana mashed
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp my seed powder (optional)
Directions
- Mash a large ripe banana (with black spots on the outside)
- To the banana add the cocoa or cacoa powder, oats, cinnamon and water
- Cook on low flame stirring continuously till it thickens and the oats are cooked. Approximately 5 minutes
- Add in the seed powder, if you are using it
- Once it is at your desired consistency transfer to a bowl and serve hot
Recipe Note
- Oats : quick oats can be used instantly. Rolled oats needs a longer time to cook and a little more water. Steel cut oats should be soaked overnight.
- Banana : only use a big banana that is ripe. With black spots on the exterior. This adds the sweetness.
- Sweetness : if you want you can add jaggery at the cooking stage or top with a teaspoon of honey. The banana makes it pretty sweet for me.
- Cacoa powder : I prefer to use cacoa powder over cocoa powder as it is nutritionally dense. With a large dose of antioxidants and magnesium. I used the one from Happy Healthy Me Organics but any good quality one will do
- Almonds : it is preferable to soak almonds overnight and remove the skin for maximum nutrition absorption
- Liquid : you can make it with just water too. Replace the almond milk with water.

Breakfast made quick and easy with all my favorite ingredients. I rarely use cocoa or chocolate unless it’s for a cake or brownies. But this looks like a good recipe to try. Thank you!
