Chinese Sweet n Sour

Chinese Sweet n Sour - Simrun Chopra

Sweet & Sour Chicken Ingredients :

  • 500 gms of boneless chicken cut into cubes / or paneer 
  • 1/2 big green capsicum cut into squares 
  • 1/2 big red capsicum cut in squares 
  • 1 big onion cut into 4 piece then opened 
  • 2 tbsp of chopped garlic 
  • 1/2 egg 
  • Salt 
  • Pepper 
  • 1 1/2 -2 tsp of corn flour 
  • 2 tsp of honey 
  • 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup 
  • 2 tsp vinegar 
  • 1 tsp soya sauce 
  • 3 tbsp of oil 


Method Chicken :

  • Marinate chicken for 15-30 minutes in 1/2 egg ,salt ,pepper & 1/2 tsp corn flour.(Can marinate in salt and pepper only also if you want )
  • Keep aside 
  • In a pan put 1 tsp oil and spread it nicely all over .
  • When the oil gets warm place the chicken pieces on it  cook on one side then flip the side and cook till done.
  • Keep it aside 

Method Paneer : 

  • Marinate the paneer for 15-30 minutes in salt ,pepper & 1 tsp corn flour .(Can marinate in salt and pepper only also if you want )
  • Keep aside 
  • In a pan put 1 tsp oil and spread it nicely all over .
  • When the oil gets warm place the paneer pieces on it , cook on one side then flip cook the other side till done
  • Keep it aside 

 

Method Sauce

  • In a bowl mix the
  • 2 tsp of honey 
  • 2 tbsp of tomato ketchup
  • 2 tsp of vinegar 
  • 1 tsp of soya sauce 
  • Keep aside . 


Separately Mix 1 tsp of corn flour in 1/4 cup water in another bowl and keep aside 

Method 

  • In a kadhai add the oil when the oil gets warm add the chopped garlic 
  • Stir fry till the garlic gets little beige in colour 
  • Then add the red and green capsicum /bell peppers and stir fry for few seconds . 
  • Add the onions and stir fry for few more seconds . 
  • Next add the pepper and stir fry for few seconds . 
  • Then add the mixed sauce that you kept aside and stir fry for few seconds. 
  • Put 4-5 tbsp of water in the bowl and add to the kadhai.
  • Now add a little salt keeping in mind that all the sauces have their own salt. 
  • Stir fry for few seconds.
  • Add the corn flour mixture and stir it in quickly. 
  • Stir till the sauce starts to thicken. 
  • Add the chicken and mix it in nicely so that the chicken gets a coating of the sauce. 
  • It Should not become dry and instead should have a thick consistency . 
  • At this point can check for salt ,sweetness and sourness , can be adjusted to your taste. 
  • Mix well. and serve hot 
NB : if the consistency becomes too thick or the dish becomes dry, you can add 1/2 cup boiling water to it and stir well .
You can taste and adjust the sweetness, sourness according to personal taste.
