Crispy Lotus Stem
Ingredients
  • 150 gms lotus stem
  • 1 1/2 tsp all purpose flour 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Pepper to taste or 1/4 tsp 
  • 2 tbsp of oil 
  • 2 -3 tsp chopped garlic 
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chopped spring onions 
  • 1/2 tsp roasted sesame seeds

Mix in a bowl and keep aside
  • 1/4 tsp soya sauce 
  • 2 tsp tomato sauce 
  • 4 tsp chilli sauce 
  • 8 tsp of thai chilli sweet sauce (or any similar chilli sweet sauce)
  • 1/4 tsp sugar 
  • Pinch of salt 

Method
  • Peel and wash lotus stem throughly .
  • Cut the lotus stem in slices in a slant (should not be too thick or too thin ) 
  • Add salt to taste , pepper and all purpose flour to the cut lotus stem 
  • Mix it well 
  • Take a pan, brush oil on it , when warm place the lotus stem on it and cook on low flame .
  • When one side becomes beige flip the side and cook till both sides are equally cooked .
  • If cooking in an air fryer can mix 1 tsp oil in the lotus stem and place in air fryer and cook till crisp .
  • When the lotus stem is done keep aside .
  • Then take a kadhai put oil , warm the oil a little then add the chopped garlic 
  • When the garlic turns beige in colour 
  • Add the mixed sauce and stir 
  • Then add 1 tbsp of chopped spring onions 
  • Now add the cooked lotus stem 
  • Mix it in well so that each piece is covered in the sauce 
  • Now check for salt , sweet and chilly , adjust according to taste. 
  • Garnish with the remaing spring onions and the roasted sesame seeds .
