How to make paneer at home

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 lt whole milk
  • 2 Tablespoon Lime juice / 2 tbsp of vinegar
  • Cheese cloth or muslin cloth

 

METHOD:

  • Bring the milk to a boil
  • Once it boils add the lime juice/ vinegar. 
  • If the paneer and water do not separate add more lime juice/ vinegar
  • As soon as the milk curdles switch off the heat
  • Add 3 to 4 ice cubes to stop the paneer from cooking further
  • Wait for a minute and then pour the water through a cheese cloth
  • Keep the whey or paneer water aside
  • Make a knot on the cheese cloth and gently squeeze the water out of the curdled milk
  • Place the paneer (in the cheese cloth) on a plate and put a weight on top for atleast 30 mins  or for upto an hour
  • Remove cloth and cut into cubes
