Crispy Cinnamon Apple Chips

A light, crunchy snack that pairs perfectly with chia pudding, yogurt bowls, or as a guilt-free standalone munchie.
These apple chips are a great alternative to processed snacks, offering a naturally sweet crunch with the warmth of cinnamon. With or without sugar, they make an excellent topping or snack — especially when you're looking to add texture without excess calories.
Ingredients (Yields chips from 1 apple)
-
1 apple of choice
-
Cinnamon powder, as needed
-
Brown sugar or coconut palm sugar, optional (small pinch)
Method
-
Slice the apple as thinly as possible. Use a mandolin or slicer for best results and even baking.
-
Preheat the oven to 100°C (212°F).
-
Pat dry the apple slices using a paper towel to remove surface moisture.
-
Line a baking tray with parchment paper or aluminium foil. Place the slices on the tray in a single layer without overlapping.
-
Place the tray on the center rack of your oven. If available, use the fan (convection) mode for even dehydration.
-
In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar (if using) and keep aside.
-
Once the edges of the apple slices begin to curl, lightly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mix over them.
-
Increase temperature to 110°C (230°F) and bake until edges turn golden brown and crisp.
-
Remove from oven and cool for at least 10 minutes to allow full crisping.
Notes
-
Best consumed within 6 hours for maximum crispness.
-
The low temperature dehydrates the apple slowly, intensifying sweetness and crunch.
-
Keep a close eye in the final minutes — they can burn quickly.
-
Non-convection ovens may take longer.
