Bread Upma
Ingredients:
Method of Preparation:
- 2 slices of whole wheat grain/mutligrain
- 2tablespo onion, finely chopped
- 2tables tomato, chopped
- 1 green chili, chopped
- a pinch ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup bell peppers, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
- 1teaspoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Method of Preparation:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add cumin seeds followed by chopped onions. Saute until onions turn brown
- Add chopped tomatoes, green chili, and minced ginger. Cook until tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Add chopped vegetables (bell peppers) and cook for a few minutes until they are slightly tender. now add salt . Mix well.
- Now add the bread pieces to the pan. Toss everything together until the bread is well coated with the spices and vegetables.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bread pieces are slightly crispy.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
