Channa Dal Peas Pulav
Ingredients
Method
1.In a kadhai put the oil/ghee and warm it a little
2.Then add the bay leaf,whole red chillies,cloves ,cinnamon stick and cardamom
3.After few seconds add the whole cummin seeds
4.When the cummin starts spluttering
5.Add the sliced onion and saute till a beige brown colour
6.Add the ginger paste and saute till the raw smell of the ginger goes
7.Can add 2-3 tbsp of water if the masala is catching to the bottom of the kadhai.
8.Drain the water from the Chana dal and add to the masala and mix it well
9.Add the turmeric powder and red chilli powder according to taste, and mix it in and saute for few minutes
10.Drain the water from the rice and add to the kadhai and mix it well
11.Add salt according to taste and the garam masala powder
12.Saute for few minutes
13.Add the peas and mix it well
14 Add the water (water to be put is 1:2 but here we can put little less as the rice grains need to separate, can put 1 : 1 1/2 , try to keep it within 3 1/2 cups of water) when the water starts boiling cover and cook till done .
Serve with salad and raita .
- 1 cup (raw) rice (wash and soak for 1/2 -1 hr and keep aside )
- 1 cup Chana dal (wash and soak for 1-1 1/2 hr and keep aside )
- 1 cup of peas
- 2-3 tbsp of oil/ghee
- 2 bay leaf
- 4 whole red chillies
- 4 green cardamom
- 4-5 cloves
- 1 tsp whole cummin
- 1 onion sliced
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Red chilli powder according to taste
- 1/2 tsp garam masala .
