Chocolate popcorn - Simrun Chopra

A quick and satisfying snack that curbs sweet cravings without going overboard on calories.

This chocolate popcorn is the perfect blend of crunch and indulgence — ideal for a light dessert or a midday treat. With minimal ingredients and under 10 minutes of prep, it's a simple yet smart way to enjoy chocolate mindfully.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • ½ cup raw corn kernels

  • 1 tsp oil

  • 1 piece cooking chocolate (approx. 3-inch block)

Method

  1. Heat a pressure cooker over medium flame. Add 1 tsp oil and spread it evenly across the base and slightly up the sides.

  2. Add the raw corn kernels and stir for a few seconds to coat them in oil.

  3. Lower the flame and cover the cooker with a lid or place the pressure cover loosely on top.

  4. Allow the kernels to pop fully. Once done, remove from heat and set the popped corn aside.

  5. Warm a kadhai on low flame, then remove it from heat once it’s slightly warm.

  6. Place the chocolate piece in the warm kadhai and let it melt using the residual heat.

  7. Add the popped corn and mix gently until all the popcorn is coated in melted chocolate.

  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
