Masala Karela
Masala Kerela (Bitter Gourd)
Ingredients
500gms of kerela
(Cut into 1"pieces, with skin, remove the insides of the kerela and discard)
3 tbsp oil
Masala Mix
- 2 1/2 tbsp of besan (gram flour)
- 2 tsp cornflour
- 2 tsp maida (refined flour)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp dry mango powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp dry fenugreek leaves (dry kasturi methi )
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder
- 3/4 tsp coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp curd
- 1 lemon (juice squeezed)
- 1 tbsp chopped garlic
- 1 tsp chopped ginger
Method
- Take a pan add 1 cup water and heat it till the water is lukewarm ,then add the cut kerela to the pan and add a pinch of salt
- Cover and cook the kerela till it is 3/4 done
- When the kerela is 3/4 done remove e from the pan and keep aside
- Now add the kerela to the paste and mix it well ,so that the kerela is coated with the masala inside out .
- Take a pan add the oil and warm the oil for few minutes .
- Then add the masala coated kerela to the pan
- Stir fry for few minutes
- Cook on low flame till the kerela is completely cooked
- Serve Hot
