Sukha Masala Karela (Bitter Gourd)
Ingredients
- 300 - 350 gms bitter gourd cut in circles
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1/4 tsp whole fennel (sauf)
- 1/2 tsp whole cumin
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2- 1tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp of pounded garlic
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp gram flour (besan )
- 1 tbsp rice flour
Method
- Cut the bitter gourd into circles and keep aside
- Take a kadhai add the oil ,warm the oil a little, then add whole fennel seeds
- Then add whole cumin seeds
- Then add asafoetida
- Stir fry for 20-30 seconds
- Then add bitter gourd cut into circles ,remove the centre part
- Stir fry for few minutes
- Cover and cook on low flame for few minutes
- Then add 1 tbsp of pounded garlic
- Stir fry for few minutes
- Next add the lemon juice and mix it in
- After this add salt to taste
- Then add 1 tsp sugar and stir fry for few minutes
- Now add the turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder
- Mix everything in well and cook for few minutes
- Now add 1 tbsp of besan and 1 tbsp of rice flour mix it in well with the bitter gourd
- Stir fry till all the masala ,besan and rice flour coat the bitter gourd
- Keep for few seconds.
- Now Done .
