Chilli Tofu - Chinese Style Low Calorie
This recipe has been adapted from my grandma's chilli chicken recipe. It is quick, low calorie and tastes awesome.
Have it with a fried rice or noodles or with plain rice or even as a sandwich stuffing.
Here are some recipes to pair it with
Sauteed Mushrooms and Tofu

- 7-8 green chillies, sliced
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp oil
- 1/4 cup chopped spring onions (optional)
Method:
- Wash the mushrooms and cut each into 4 vertical pieces. Set aside.
- In a wok or pan, add a few drops of oil, spreading it evenly, and gently heat the wok.
- Add the cut mushrooms and stir-fry over high heat, continuously stirring until the mushrooms turn slightly beige. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the wok and heat.
- Add the julienned ginger and stir-fry for a few seconds.
- Add the chopped garlic and stir-fry for 50-60 seconds until fragrant.
- Incorporate the sliced green chillies and stir-fry for 30-40 seconds.
- Add the tofu cubes and stir-fry for about a minute.
- Introduce the sliced onion and continue to stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until the onion softens.
- Stir in the sugar and soy sauce, ensuring they are evenly mixed.
- Season with a pinch of salt, considering the saltiness of the soy sauce.
- Optionally, garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
